About Me

Douglas Smyth, Owner and descendant of local business owners, is known for his entrepreneurial spirit.  He has owned and operated Smyth Painting Company for over 15 years and is often sought out by customers and contractors to assist on projects of all sizes.  Douglas’s ability to see projects through and provide fair pricing and excellent service led to his reputation as the best paint contractor in Newport, Rhode Island.  As Smyth Painting Company grew so did Douglas’s vision.  He realized the importance of property improvement projects and expanded his business to offer cabinet refinishing – a niche market for price conscious customers eager to update their homes.  As such, Cabinet Revival was born.  Douglas realized his passion – to build businesses and add to Newport’s economic job growth.  Looking to add to his portfolio, Douglas jumped at the opportunity to acquire Castle Keep when its previous owner, Audrey Grimes, approached him about selling her business.
